Ed started performing professionally at a tender age
of 13 (1983). He started of as a dancer. Ed recalls dancing in competitions
and family events since he was about 5 years old. In 1987, Ed was the
champion in the Melaka state level singing competition. Ed’s first
manager spotted him in 1989 while he was jamming at a pub during a night
out with friends. That was the beginning of Ed’s career as pubs/lounges/hotels
singer. This went on till it was time for Ed to leave for Singapore in
1997 to pursue his studies.
Ed graduated in:
1. Community Services - Christchurch Educational College, New Zealand.
2. Cross Cultural Studies - MCMS, Malaysia.
3. Vocals (singing) - School of Creative Arts - City Harvest, Singapore
While living in Singapore from 1997 to 2002, Ed didn’t just study.
He joined some talent agencies that opened doors to many performing opportunities.
And some of them are as below:
• Ed sang for many events and was even invited to be the Guest Artiste
for the very first “Showoff Concert” in 2002, just before
he left for Malaysia.
• Ed acted in many shows. The big break came when he got role as
Mr Pillay in the Singapore movie “Chicken Rice War”. He acted
alongside Lum May Yee and Pierre Png.
• Ed also got an acting role as Zhi Wei in the much-loved Musical
Drama – “Mid Autumn’s Love”.
• Ed got a dancing role for the very popular Comedy Musical entitled
“Ka-ra-o-ke”.
