Sermon: “Good Soil that Meditates” 13th December 2009
Psalms 1:1-3… Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers.2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.3 He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.
- The bible teaches us to meditate on God’s truths! Believing in God’s truth is a ONE TIME decision. But meditating on God’s Truth is a CONTINUOUS decision. It is VITAL to know the difference between “believing” and “meditating”. It is easy to believe God’s truth when we hear it being preach in church among many others believers saying “amen”. But is it not easy to meditate on God’s truth – when we are the only Christian at our workplace / home /classroom. When everything and everyone around us is telling us not to believe in God’s truth – yet we still hold on to Jesus’ truth – that is MEDITATION!
- Matthew 1:23… Once during a Praise and Worship session in church – Jesus gave me a word for the congregation. Jesus revealed that many are experiencing Him in church, Sunday after Sunday but unfortunately – they leave Jesus behind in church, at the end of the service! Jesus is calling God’s children to TAKE HIM HOME. Many meet Jesus every Sunday in church – and that’s it! The bible tells us that Jesus is called Immanuel which means God with us. Once we believe in Jesus – He becomes our Immanuel! Jesus is with us. Jesus stays with us – 24Seven and not just at Church Service.
- Hebrews 13:5… Christians find it easy to believe God’s truth when they are in the church – because they believe that Jesus is present in church. When Christians realize that Jesus is with them at all times (not just in the church) – then meditation becomes easy too! God promised His children His constant presence. But sadly not many of God’s children understand this.
- Luke 8:5-8… When we understand that Jesus is present with us ALL THE TIME, we will supernaturally naturally begin to meditate Jesus’ truth and promises. We will then start to experience a thirtyfold, sixtyfold and even a hundredfold of divine peace of mind, divine joy in our hearts and divine power. We will begin to be peaceful and powerful like Jesus. We will begin to speak like Jesus and behave like Jesus. No one can be in Jesus’ presence without His beauty, love, peace, power and glory touching us.
- NO SOIL (the unbeliever): Some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds of the air ate it up.
- SOIL (the believer):
- 1. 6Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture.
- 2. 7Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants.
- GOOD SOIL (the mediator): 8Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” When he said this, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”
- We meditate that Jesus’ presence is with us ALL THE TIME by SEEING Jesus in everything that we do and wherever we are.
- A) You are in a meeting with a group of important people, discussing a big challenge at work. B) Start to see Jesus in the room with you – guiding you in your thinking. C) Jesus’ presence will supernaturally naturally bring wisdom into your mind and you will begin to flow with great ideas.
- A) You have been accused of something that you did not do. B) See Jesus standing behind the accuser. C) Jesus’ presence will guide you in what to say and when to just listen. The truth will come out and you will be left alone.
- A) You are going for an interview. B) Start to see Jesus there in the interview room with you, putting answers into your mouth. C) Your nervousness will leave you. You will experience Jesus’ favor on you bringing on positive smiles on the interviewers face.
- A) You are sitting for a very important examination. B) See Jesus sitting beside you, guiding your mind and your hands as you answer the questions. C) Your fear will leave you and you will remember everything you have learned and do well.
- A) You are in the middle of a big argument with a family member. B) See Jesus standing near you. C) Your words will change and your body language will become more patient as you see Jesus right there with you. Supernaturally naturally, there will be self-control in you and your family member.
Was blessed. Meditation is really important.
