Deuteronomy 1:11…May
the LORD, the God of your fathers (Abraham, Isaac & Jacob), increase
you a thousand times and bless you as he has promised!
• Every one of us is in a need of increase in one
area or another. Some are in need of increase in their…
1. Spiritual Life
2. Peace of mind
3. Finance
4. Health
5. Real friendships and relationships
6. Quality time with loved-ones
7. Better relationship with family members
8. etc
• 1 Corinthians 3:7…The bible tells us that – Jesus
is the Lord of our increase. As children of God – we need to believe
every truth that Jesus reveals to us including the truth that at the end
of the day – only Jesus can and want to make things grow or increase
in every area of the lives of those who believe in godly increase. It
is sad to see many children of God still think that the increase or success
which they enjoy is the result of their own effort or hard work.
• Proverbs 10:4… Jesus despises Laziness. Jesus opens the
door for us to be part of the process of the increase – even though
He can actually do it all without us. Jesus blesses us – with the
opportunity to plant, to water, to reap, to glean and so on. And eventually
we will experience the increase that only Jesus can bring forth.
• Ruth 1:16… Ruth, a young widow from Moab is a godly example
of a true Believer that experience God’s increase…
1. Ruth (even though a marginalized) accepts and believe in the true God
(the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob)
2. Ruth goes through the door that God opens for her (she gleaned)
3. Ruth experience divine increase and blessings
• Ruth 2:17… Ruth gleans in a barley field from morning till
evening. Some would say that the ephah (10 day supply) of barley Ruth
collected was because of her hard work. Indeed Ruth did work all day in
the field – yet we will see the ACTUAL reason for that blessing
in the verse 16 which is BEFORE verse 17.
• Ruth 2:16… But Boaz, the owner of the field, had secretly
told his reapers to let grain from the bundles fall purposely for Ruth,
we know that it was because of Boaz’s instruction that Ruth ended
up with so much.
• 2 Corinthians 8:9…Boaz is a picture of Jesus in our lives
today. What Boaz did for Ruth, today our Jesus does the same thing for
us today behind our backs when we give Him the chance to do so by believing
in His divine intervention. Jesus causes people to favor us and “drop”
blessings into our lives because Jesus is in love with us. Jesus causes
us to “pick up” these blessings as we live our lives on this
earth. So often, it happens so naturally that we forget that it is our
Jesus who has blessed us with the increases. That is sad but true.
• Deuteronomy 28:8… Our hard work is not behind our increase.
Today many are working really hard – giving all of their life, time
and son on - yet they are not experiencing godly increase. Human increase
is nothing in comparison to godly increase. Godly increase comes from
Jesus and Jesus alone. The Bible tells us that it is Jesus who gives real
increase. He is the one who is behind our increase and He delights in
blessing us because He loves you!
