DON'T LOOK BACK!:

Have you ever told urself IF only I did that or I did this? If only I didn’t do that or this? We keep on going on in our life regretting for so many things. But what did the bible ask us to do? Let look into it;

Philippians 3:13–14 - What Paul is trying to tell in this passage? It is so clear that we are suppose to forget those things that are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.
All of us have past that is not good, Past that can destroy our live if not for Jesus today! We have been abused, join wrong company, bad habits and so many other things that we regret. Satan want use it to destroy us and to brings us down. You know, Satan knows that you are going to be someone great to build God’s kingdom so from start he plan to destroy us. Are we suppose to keep on remembering those thing and go on regretting? One of the rule in running a race is you cannot look back! It is true. I was an athlete in my school day and one thing I remember my coach told me is that you cannot look back, if not you will lose you race. It is so true even come to running the race in our life. If we keep looking back then you will not be able to look ahead and run and finish the race! You may have heard that people say’ you better remember this or that so you will not do it again! But is that what the bible ask us to do? Sometime its not only to let go of the bad things but even the nice things that can distract our race. Let’s look at Paul:-

Paul’s absolute focus gave him an absolute willingness to let go of nice things that didn’t matter. Here are some items that he discarded:
1. His heritage: a Hebrew of Hebrews (V5)
2. His pure lineage: from the tribe of Benjamin(v5)
3. His former legalism: a strict Pharisee (V5)
4. His pass zeal: a persecutor of the Church(v6)
5. His self-righteousness: a blameless life(V6)

Paul so narrowed his focus that he discarded not only the things he once counted as gain, but he counted everything as garbage for the sake of obtaining Christ! He would lose it all if that allowed him to gain intimacy with Christ!

Paul openly communicated his priorities. All the trophies and culture of his pass he counted as rubbish, in order to gain Christ. He wanted to know Christ, experience His power, share in and complete His sufferings, and ultimately be conformed to His death(V10,11) he did it all of this for the purpose of attaining the resurrection. Paul narrowed his sedge and his focus to the essential. What his secret/
1. He discerned what hindered him (V7, 8) we need to come to a place to see what hinder us to move on and get into higher place with our relationship with Jesus!
2. He discover what he wanted- Paul wanted God’s righteousness, not his own. Christ became his solitary pursuit.
3. He determined how to get it- with single-minded passion; Paul forgot the past and pursued the prize of his call.

How about you? Have you narrowed you focus? What is your ‘one thing” What are you pursuing?

Is Christ your focus and the ‘one thing or you pursuing something else. Are you still in the place of condemning yourself for you past and your sin?

Hebrews 10:17 - Jesus himself says that He will not remember our sins and lawless deeds! Why then we want to remember our past and keep condemning our self?
Romans 8:1 - There is no condemnation for those who re in Christ! So instead of being conscious of your sins, which is to have an evil conscience (Hebrews 10:22), you can have a perfect conscience, a conscience that is free from the guilt and condemnation of sins.

Like Paul, you can forget your past, the wrongs you have done, and the hurts you have caused others. God can take the tears of yesterday and transform them into the miracles of tomorrow. God can restore in all abundance to you what you have lost. God can cause all things, even the painful things of your past, to work together for your good.
His Word says, “The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.” (Isaiah 58:8) It will cover your past. Wherever you go, God’s glory covers your past. It is no longer the same past that you know of because God’s glory has descended on it. Your past is past! It has been wiped out. It is gone. So don’t let your past rob you of the joy of today any longer!
