Deuteronomy 29:13…to
confirm you this day as his people, that he may be your God as he promised
you and as he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
• After the fall of Adam – God did not give up on the human-race.
He went forth to look for people who will believe in Him as the true and
living God. And God found and made a promise to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
– our forefathers.
• Hebrews 11:12…Abraham has 2 sets of descendants:
o His spiritual descendants (the stars) – Christians “The
Children of God”
o His biological descendants (the sand) – Jews “The People
of God”
• There is a connection between the Jews and the children of God.
In so many ways – God speaks to His children through the Jews. There
is a message from the Jews for the children of God.
• The Jews observe seven “perfect” feasts:
| Jesus fulfilled in His first coming |
Jesus will fulfill in His second coming |
| 1. The feast of Passover |
5. The feast of Trumpets |
| 2. The feast of Unleavened Bread |
6. The feast of Atonement |
| 3. The feast of Firstfruits |
7. The feast of Tabernacles |
| 4. The feast of Pentecost |
|
• Jesus is the fulfillment of the first four feast:
1. 1 Corinthians 5:7… He was the Passover Lamb
2. John 6:35… The bread of life
3. 1 Corinthians 15:20… The firstfruits of those who have fallen
asleep
4. Acts 2:1–4… And when Pentecost had fully come after His
ascension, He sent us the Holy Spirit.
• The fifth feast that the Jews celebrate is the Feast of Trumpets.
It is also called Rosh Hashanah (it is the Jewish New Year) - usually
in the month of September. This feast is celebrated with the blowing of
trumpets — the shofar (ram’s horn).
• Through Jesus’ first coming – Jesus fulfilled –
the first four feasts. In Jesus’ second coming – Jesus will
fulfill the remaining three “to complete” feasts. It will
all begin with Jesus fulfilling the fifth feast.
• 1 Thessalonians 4:16… Thus - the fifth “grace”
feast that the children of God are waiting for Jesus to fulfill is the
Feast of Trumpets. When Jesus fulfills the fifth feast, it means that
the children of God are going up to meet Him in the clouds!
• 1 Corinthians 15:51–55…This “feast” is
also known as the rapture of the church. When the trumpet sounds, “in
the twinkling of an eye”, we who are alive will be changed. We will
put on new bodies that will be like Jesus’! Those who are dead in
Christ will rise and also receive new bodies. They will go up first followed
by us who are alive, and we will all meet the Lord in the air.
• 1 Thessalonians 4:17… In other words – some of us
will not see earthly death during our life on this earth! The Bible says
that we who are still alive – at that time will be caught up together
with them in the clouds to meet the Lord. It is one thing to happen to
be alive, but quite another to remain alive.
