Matthew 22:14… "For
many are invited (called), but few are chosen."
• The bible is clear that God loves each and every
one of us – NO ONE is left out. Yet it also says that among all
of us whom God so love - many are invited but only few chosen.
1. When we are invited – we have the option to accept or reject
the invitation. An invitation from God - is as though Jesus comes to you
with an invitation card.
2. But when we are chosen – like it or not – we BECOME the
CHOSEN ONE – it’s no longer an option. When you chosen –
no invitation card is given. Jesus comes to you – and says “Come
Follow Me”. And according to the word of God – this happens
to a FEW.
• 1 Corinthians 1:27…Just as the world have its choice –
so does God. Who does Jesus chooses?
1. The World chooses, glorifies and accepts people whom the world considers
wise, strong, rich, pious and etc.
2. And the World rejects people whom the world considers foolish, weak,
poor, unholy and etc.
3. YET Jesus chooses people whom the world calls foolish, weak, poor,
unholy and etc. The Bible tells us that Jesus finds joy in choosing and
using the people whom the world considers foolish, weak, poor, unholy
and etc.
• Some of God’s Chosen Servants…
1. Exodus 4:2 … A murderer and a Fugitive was chosen. With nothing
but his staff (stick), God chose Moses to perform miracles, confront the
mighty Pharaoh and set God’s people free!
2. John 6:9… A little boy was chosen among the thousands of adults.
With his five loaves and two fish – this little boy’s lunch
was chosen by Jesus to feed 5,000 men. Plus Jesus’ disciples gathered
12 baskets full of balance after that.
3. Joshua 6:25… A prostitute was chosen of all people. Of all the
people in the land, God chose Rahab the prostitute to save the Israelites.
Rahab became part of God’s people.
4. 1 Samuel 17:50… A Shepherd boy was chosen instead of the mighty
warriors. David the shepherd boy, his sling and stone - brought down Goliath,
the mighty Philistine champion. David became King.
5. Acts 9:1-2…A murderer of Christians was chosen. Paul was the
greatest disciple of Jesus of the New Testament. He even wrote most of
the New Testament.
• When we are chosen…
1. Acts 9:15-17… Like Paul - it can be painful.
2. Jonah 1:3…Like Jonah - we should not run away. Until His mission
is accomplished through us – we will never find rest.
3. Like Paul and Jonah – we can clearly see that God knows what
He is doing. Jesus sees the end results of the mission that He has chosen
for us to accomplished. Jesus can be trusted.
• Today the world may reject you and even call you foolish or weak
or poor or unholy or good for nothing or uneducated. It is OK! You just
need to believe that your Jesus does not say or feel that way towards
you. You need to believe that your Jesus chooses the foolish things of
the world to shame the wise. Your Jesus chooses the weak things of the
world to shame the strong.
• As children of God – we should not despise those whom the
world labels as weak and insignificant. Jesus can use them to bring down
the so-called giants of this world!
