• Ephesians 2:6… The bible teaches
that after God raised us up with Christ (born again); God sits us down
to rest spiritually (spirit + soul + body) in Christ Jesus.
• 1 Peter 2:2… “What is true in the natural is often
true with the spiritual”… In the natural, what must a baby
learn to do – before he can start standing and eventually walking
and running? The spiritual baby must begin to sit first!
• Hebrews 12:1… The bible tells us that as Children of God
we are running a race. How well a person runs the race is all depended
on how well one sits, stands and walks before one runs. We need to sit
and rest in the finished work of Christ if we are serious about running
the race successfully in our spiritual journey.
• Deuteronomy 6:10–11… The Promised Land was a land
of rest where God promised His people large and beautiful cities which
they did not build, houses full of all good things, which they did not
fill, wells which they did not dig, orchards and olive trees which they
did not plant.
• God’s ways are not the same as men’s ways. Sometimes
it is hard to understand God’s ways. But we are called to trust
in God’s ways – even when we don’t understand it. God’s
ways are always the best ways!
• Deuteronomy 29:5… But for 40 years, God’s people wandered
in the wilderness because they refused to believe that God had given them
a land where everything had been prepared — the work is finished.
They could not believe that God had given them a land full of riches to
enjoy, a land which just flowed with His goodness.
• John 19:30… Today, many Christians choose not to believe
that the work of Jesus is truly complete (Jesus died, rose and resurrected)
and finished. There are Christians who are trying to complete… a
completed work, finish… a finished work and defeat… a defeated
devil – which was all done 2000 years ago.
• Hebrews 4:10–11… There are believers today who are
always working and trying to produce prosperity in their spirit, soul,
body, time, talent or treasures. Jesus wants us to stop trying and start
trusting in His love for us. Jesus wants us to stop working and struggling,
and to start resting and believing in His grace towards us.
• Psalm 62:5…The only “work” left for us to do
today is entering His rest. We are to make every effort - every day to
enter Jesus’ rest. We are to rest and believe that the work is done
because it is a finished work. We are called to rest and believe in God’s
undeserved favor towards us. We are to rest in Jesus who will carry us
through the stormy days.
• Hebrews 4:7… Let’s enter God’s rest. Let’s
enjoy sitting together with Christ in the heavenly places, then we will
run and not be weary, walk and not faint!
