MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY:
Dated : Year 2008 My testimony for TFD Nov 1st 2008 - By Renik "I'd like to praise God by saying I'm proud to be an exgay! Being a homosexual can take the life out of me. It leaves me wanting for more and I can never have enough to satisfy myself. There was a time I felt so guilty about being a homosexual, thinking I was less than perfect than the average human being, I had a strong urge to commit suicide but something told me don't do it. Then I had a nervous breakdown and was diagnosed as having schizophrenia but God brought me out of all this. Furthermore, God kept prompting me that there is a better life to follow, in fact the best life which only He can offer. This started my search to find a ministry which is not homophobic and which can help me realise my potential as a human being and not just a sex object. I came across Exodus International on the net but they're far away in America. Soon I came to know about Choices but they're in Singapore. I kept praying for a ministry in Malaysia - I was brought to PLUC through the Asian Beacon magazine. Then I lost touch with them because I did not keep regular contact. Then I came across RLM - Real Love Ministry - again on the net. My prayers were answered. Yet I did not have the courage or the will to contact them. I just sent an email and I never followed through with it. Then a special person came into my life and, realising the seriousness of my situation, she encouraged me to take that first step. Both of us attended our first Vmeet or Victory Meet session in March this year. For the first time, I heard truth being spoken from the mouth of Pastor Edmund Smith. His research and knowledge regarding the homosexual condition actually put me in the spotlight, meaning I could hear myself being described as exactly as he said it. To explain to you what this means will take a lengthy discussion. You'll have to attend Vmeet to find out for yourself. It takes place once a month. For the first time in my life, I have come to know through RLM that God loves me unconditionally and that I can become a heterosexual from being a homosexual. This involves a journey of recovery and RLM has provided me the tools to prepare me on this journey. The tools are: Jesus as number 1 in your life, the Holy Spirit to keep you in constant contact with Him and, on a human level, an accountability partner or Befriender who helps to steer you on the right path when you backslide. At the moment, we are short of Befrienders and in need of Befrienders like you who are willing to lay aside some of your time to experience the journey of a lifetime with those who are struggling with homosexuality. We are not an anti-gay ministry. We exist only because we are here for those who want out of a gay or lesbian life and want God's Way Of Life. This ministry is for those who realise that being a homosexual can be destructive. RLM has brought me into contact with people like me and those who are straight to show that I am loved and cared for and that I am a unique individual. When you come into contact with Pastor Edmund, you will see for yourself how God has changed his life and used him as an example to show that what was once thought impossible can be made possible. If you listen to his homosexual background, you'll be so amazed that he has made a 180 degree turn in the opposite direction and is leading a heterosexual life from now on with his beloved wife and family. Truly God can change things if you really want Him to. I know now that with God nothing is impossible. RLM is helping me grow into a balanced individual, giving me courage and hope to face the world head-on all because of Jesus Himself. All this is God's doing and He has put RLM to good use towards this end. Even though I'm still on the journey of recovery, I am proud to say that I am an ex-gay. If you are right at this moment feeling depressed or under the weather because you don't like yourself for who you are, know that God still loves you no matter what. That is a truth nobody can deny...and we at RLM are here to care for you and love you for who you are, no strings attached. You will see God's love in action and you will be guaranteed a guilt-free life which only God can provide. Why? Because God loves you for who you are and it gets better each time. Come to RLM and enjoy the graciousness of God." I would like to end with this verse from the Bible. It's my favourite verse. It's from the Contemporary English version. Isaiah 40:29-31: 'The LORD gives strength to those who are weary. Even young people get tired, then stumble and fall. But those who trust the LORD will find new strength. They will be strong like eagles soaring upward on wings; they will walk and run without getting tired.'
